

Gwenda Kaye Wood Froelich, a resident of Baytown, Texas, was born January 23, 1947 to Letha and Curtis Wood in Ft Worth, Texas and passed away in her home early Friday morning, February 28, 2014, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her father. Kaye is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Carey D. Froelich, and their three children and their families: a daughter, Cori and Scott Canady and children, Colin and Ryan; a son, Cody and Mary Froelich, and Caleb, JohnLuke, and Joshua; another son, Curt and Ana Froelich and Zellie; and her mother. Other survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Gale and Gary Kennedy, and her brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Debbie Wood. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with a host of friends were close to Kaye and a source of encouragement to her throughout her life.
Kaye touched the lives of hundreds of children through church and public education. She devoted countless hours to preschool and children's ministry in several churches in Texas and Louisiana, serving as the lead teacher with 3-year-olds for the past 9 years at First Baptist Church of Baytown. She taught preschool and elementary children in the Ft Worth area and in Baton Rouge, and she worked for the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District, most recently at Crockett Elementary School.
A memorial visitation for Kaye is planned on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Atrium of First Baptist Church, 505 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521, where she was a faithful member. The memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, also at First Baptist, with Rev. Bill Yowell and Dr. Randy Gilchrist presiding.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be given to Everyday Church of Virginia Beach, VA, in care of First Baptist Church of Baytown.
