

Kenneth W. Ford, D. D. S., 86, of Baytown passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008. Born March 2, 1921 in Humble, he moved to Baytown in 1925, attended school at Anson Jones, Horace Mann and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1939. After graduating from Lee College in 1941, and the University of Houston in 1943, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served until 1946. After returning home he entered the University of Texas Dental Branch and graduated in 1951.
He served as Scientific Program Chairman of the Greater Houston Dental Meeting for two years. On the state level he served as a delegate to the Texas Dental Association seven years and on the State Peer Review Committee for 4 years, including a year as chairman. He served six years on the Board of Directors of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry, including a year as president. On the national level he served as delegate to the American Dental Association and as a delegate to the Academy of General Dentistry. He holds fellowships in the American College of Dentistry, International College of Dentistry and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Ford has been on the Board of Directors of the University of Texas Dental Branch for eight years, serving as Chairman of the Board for a year. He was president of the University of Texas Dental Branch Alumni Association. In Baytown, he was a charter member of the Dental Study Club, serving two terms as president. He was a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192 and the Richards Masonic Lodge #1116. He was also a charter member and past president of the Baytown Optimist Club and was awarded the Lee College Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1964.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Ford and brothers, Ellis Ford and David Ford. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Opal D. Ford of Baytown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruby and W. C. Reeves of Baytown; nieces, Sherri Hanson of Baytown and Connie Cooke of Houston; nephew, Gary Reeves of Baytown; and his special friend and loving dog, Sugar.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Mike Proctor officiating.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
