

Kervin Gourlay “DadDaddy” 87, of Baytown, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2006. He was born January 11, 1919 to Jesse and Viola Gourlay in Cedar Bayou, TX. He worked in the Oil Movements Department at Exxon Refinery for over 40 years, and retired August 1st, 1980. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Orpha Lee Boles Gourlay for the last 67 years, they fell in love on their first date on a ferry ride to the San Jacinto Monument in 1938. He served in the Army during WWII. After his retirement, DadDaddy and Nanny traveled in their moter home across the United States and Canada. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and tending to his yard and garden.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janelle Gourlay Hadley; sister, Alice Gourlay Wiser; brothers, Kennaway Gourlay, L.P. Gourlay.
He is survived by his wife, Orpha Lee Gourlay; daughter, Judith Gayle Gourlay Hokett and husband Arlon of Baytown; brother, Virgil Gourlay and wife Mary of Baytown, sisters-in-law Flonnie Gourlay, Thelma Gourlay; grandchildren, Johnny Hadley and wife Chris of Saginaw, TX, Carla Hadley-Anderson and husband Ron of Bothell, Washington, Steven Hadley and wife Jill of Mont Belvieu, TX, Steffanie Hadley Aden and husband Mike of Baytown, TX, Dana Hokett Chaplin and husband Tom of Conroe, TX, Michael Hokett and wife Kary of Austin, TX; 15 great grandchildren.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Larry Hayes.
