

Leah Dineen Merrill (Thornton, Edwards) Armstrong, 64, of Mont Belvieu, TX was born June 8, 1950, in Baytown, TX and passed away July 17, 2014, at home after a valiant battle with cancer. Dineen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always laughing, smiling and trying to help everyone. She didn't meet strangers…she met new friends.
When Dineen and Mark married in November 1986, they moved to California. Following Mark's work they lived in Idaho and then Nevada. Mark moved to Washington state with his job and Dineen moved back to Texas in 2007 to purchase their retirement home and to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Dineen received her Associate of Arts degree from Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California in1993. Before being diagnosed with brain cancer, she was a valued employee of Evin Thayer Studios in Houston, TX.
Dineen was preceded in death by her parents Cecil E. Merrill and Donnie Williams Merrill Harmon; step-father, Benjamin Harmon; father-in-law, Eugene (Gene) Armstrong; granddaughter Ashley Armstrong and son Daniel Kayne Edwards. She is survived by her husband Mark Armstrong; mother-in-law, Verna Armstrong; sister, Beverly (Mike) Boykin; brothers, Glenn (Linda) Merrill, Don (Mary Jayne) Merrill; sisters-in-law, Carol (Allan) Scharf, Sallie (David) Backus; children, Lee (Virginia) Edwards, Jennifer Edwards, Rebecca Raine (Nick Hutchason); stepsons, Mark, Christopher (Beth) Armstrong, Jason (Rhonda) Armstrong, Randy (Dawn) Armstrong; grandchildren, Patrick Edwards, Lauran (Nathan) Doe, Kaylee Edwards, Serenity Villarreal, Jasmine Hutchason, Zackery Armstrong, Preslie Armstrong, Cannon Armstrong, Silas Armstrong; great-grandsons Tyson Bates, Mason Doe; extra special cousin and lifetime best friend Judy Moore; special friends, Zack (Morgan) Bates; former husbands, Jimmy Thornton and Tommy Edwards. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas. Burial will follow at the Barber Cemetery in Mont Belvieu, TX.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Barber Cemetery, P. O. Box 1227, Mont Belvieu, TX 77580.
