

Lena Marie LaPrairie Beaubouef, age 92, died peacefully following a lengthy illness on September 13, 2014 at The Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Baytown. Lena is survived by her two sons, Rayburn Beaubouef of Highlands, Mark Beaubouef of Irving, and daughter-in-law Diane Rawlinson Beaubouef of Highlands. Lena was the proud grandmother of three, grandson Rodney Beaubouef, and grand-daughters Rachel Harrison and Haley Gibson, and was great-grandmother to Morgan and Brendan Harrison, Bonham Beaubouef and expecting the birth of her fourth great-grandchild, Jaxon Gibson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other family members in Louisiana, Texas and Georgia. Lena is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Otis Beaubouef.
Lena was born May 13, 1922 in Larto Lake, Louisiana to parents Moab and Ella LaPrairie. Lena and her husband Otis met and married in Deville, Louisiana in 1943 and moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1952, eventually making their home in the Baytown area in 1963. Lena was a gifted cook, and got great enjoyment from preparing meals and making Gumbo for family and friends throughout the years. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and many outdoor activities including camping and fishing with her late husband. In addition to her family, she loved her church community, and was a long-time member of the Harvest Temple Ministries Church in Baytown, Texas, where she actively participated in fundraising events. Lena will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a devoted friend, and a woman of strong faith who had a beautiful heart and spirit.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home. Mrs. Beaubouef's funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Center Point United Pentecostal Church in Deville, Louisiana. Graveside services will follow the funeral at Oak Grove Cemetery in Effie, Louisiana. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Lena's life. The family would like to thank The Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Baytown, Texas for their kindness and care during Lena's illness.
