Lila Dodson Mills

Lila Dodson Mills, 91, of Baytown passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. She was born on February 18, 1920 to Emory and Maude Dodson in Canton, Texas. Lila grew up moving from town to town and attending many schools while her father worked in the Texas oilfields. When she was in high school in Van, Texas she met the love of her life: Ramsey Zack ""Boe"" Mills. He preceded her in death in 2008 and she will be so happy to see her Boe again. During their 68 years of marriage they were inseparable. They loved to travel and spend time with their cherished family. They had the great opportunity to live in Jamaica for some time while Boe worked for Exxon Mobil.

Lila was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church in Baytown where she and Boe were members of the Singing Saints. She was a Worthy Matron of the Goose Creek Chapter 798 of the Eastern Star and a member of the Baytown A&M Mother's Club (Whoop!). She was retired from the Harris County Health Department.

She is survived by her devoted family: Son, Ramsey Zack Mills, Jr. and wife Joyce of Sarasota, Florida and their children: Gregory Mills & wife Jeanne, Ryan Mills, Lia Mills, Dwight Pattison, Scott Pattison, Stuart Pattison & wife Jodie and Sharon Wickham & husband Kenny. Gregory and Jeanne's children: Matthew, Jeremy, Zachary Alan, Carson and Kristin Mills; Stuart and Jodie's children: Chelsea Montoya, Lindsea and Spencer Pattison. Sharon and Kenny's children: Jack, Emma and Elliot Wickham. Son, Gary Gene Mills and wife Ann of Sugar Land, Texas and their children: James Mills & wife Stacie, John Mills & wife Melanie, Elizabeth Swan & husband Stephen and Ashley Mills. James and Stacie's children: Sarah, Zachary James and Rebekah Mills. John and Melanie's children: Natalie and Caroline Mills. Elizabeth and Stephen's children: Spencer, Graham and Shepherd Swan. Daughter, Beverly Kay Engelhardt of San Antonio, Texas and her children: Keith Duplissey, Danyelle Ford & husband Glen and Brian Duplissey. Danyelle and Glen's children: Katie, Caleb and Madeline Ford. Also, her brother Thurman Dodson and wife Fern of Baytown, Texas.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church Chapel, 600 W. Sterling St., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. A family graveside service will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Mills, James Mills, Keith Duplissey, John Mills, Brian Duplissey, and Ryan Mills.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Parkway Place for the excellent care and compassion that Lila received during her residence there. They would also like to thank the West Houston Medical Center for their assistance during her final days.

We will always remember her sweet smile and loving ways.
