Maria C. Rendon, age 99, entered heaven on November 3, 2021. She was born to Eutenio and Estefana Cardenas on April 9, 1922, in Fredericksburg, Texas. Maria lived in the San Antonio area before moving to Baytown where she raised her eight children and resided for the last 74 years.
Maria was a past volunteer for the American Red Cross, Hospice, and was an active member of Iglesia Emanuel. Maria always opened her door to others that needed a home. Maria also hosted missionaries from abroad. Maria enjoyed reading, tending to her plants, spending time with friends, and traveling to visit her children.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Eutenio and Estafana Cardenas; her brothers, Benustiano Cardenas, Enrique Cardenas, Felix Cardenas, and Fernando Cardenas; sisters Eluteria Gonzalez, Lucia Cardenas, and Serevita Rendon; great-great grandson Michael Hutzel.
Maria is survived by her sister Antonia Montenegro; sons, Ramon Rendon (Xenia), Rogelio Rendon (Juanita), Daniel Rendon (Elaine), Luis Ray Rendon (Anita), and Fernando Rendon (Lorraine); daughters; Elodia Rodriguez (John), Rosa Linda Rendon-Kirk (Robert), Aida Rendon (David), 28 grandchildren, numerous great grand-children, and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as longtime friend Aurora Garza.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 5-8pm at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home. A Celebration of Maria’s life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 10am in the Chapel at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Crispin Rendon, Daniel Rendon, Nathan Rodriguez, Jaden Holguin, Jamie Mundell, and Joseph Gonzalez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gavin Mundell, Haiden Shostak, Jayce Rendon, Mark Anthony Rodriguez, Roy Rendon, and Ryan Rendon.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Ascend Hospice Care, Kingwood HCA Hospital, Aurora Garza, and Beatriz Melendez for the loving care they provided Ms. Rendon.
