Marie Elizabeth Davis

Marie Elizabeth Davis, 84, of Baytown, TX passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 13, 2007. She was born on November 19, 1922 in Pelly, to George and Dora Evans. Marie was a 1941 graduate of Cedar Bayou High School. Marie contributed to the war effort by working in the local shipping yard, building troop transport ships. She married John S. Davis in 1944. Marie enjoyed being a military wife, traveling throughout the country and Europe with her career army husband. Marie returned to Baytown in 1971 and was a longtime employee of White Star Laundry, welcoming customers at the front counter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years; sister, Betty Harrison; and brothers C.D. Evans and R.L. Evans. Marie will be missed by her son, John Paul Davis and wife Gail of Baytown and 3 daughters, Sylvia Davis of Austin, Janet Spencer and husband Fred of Austin, and Janice Davis and husband Richard Hayes of Austin; 9 grandchildren, Patsy Hutzley and husband Eric of Baytown, Joy Nelson of Baytown, Jody Lancaster and husband Jeff of Barbers Hill, Christie Dent and husband Jason of Baytown, J.P. Davis and wife Halea of Baytown, David Reichek and wife Karen of Austin, Scott Reichek and wife Michele of Austin, and Bailey and Cooper Hayes of Austin. Marie was blessed with 10 greatgrandchildren, James and Steven Hutzley, Kourtni and Matthew Lancaster, Kirbi Hayes, Colby, Catlien and Hunter Davis, Tyler Landreneau, and Rachel and Jacob Reichek. Marie also will be greatly missed by her beloved companions, Miss Kitty and Kat.

A memorial service will be at Memory Gardens Mausoleum on Monday, November 19, 2007, at 1 p.m. Per Marie's wishes, she will be cremated and will rest next to her husband John in Memory Gardens.
