Marshall Newman passed away on May 11, 2012, at the age of 57. He is the loving father of Amanda (Morgan) Rohan-Smith, grandfather of Zaira, and longtime companion of Annette Foot. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary, and is one of the dear sons to Charles (Patricia) Newman. He is the loving brother of Linda (Les) Verscheuren, Thomas (Margaret) Newman, Carrie (Tom) Paholak, Jeffrey Newman, Sally (Bill) Shoener, Mary (Bob) Medley, and has been blessed with many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his close, life-long friends, Mike and Dave. He served in the United States Marine Corp. and later moved to Baytown, Texas where he resided for the past thirty years. The last twenty-six of those years he was proudly employed by Lee College of Baytown, Texas. He started on the grounds crew, a job which he loved due to his passion for horticulture and his great love for the outdoors. He retired in August 2011 as a HVAC Mechanic and Technician, a position of which he was very proud of, and loved his work dearly. He had acquired a deep respect and admiration for his co-workers Dave, Margie, and Fred and was proud to call them his friends. His family and friends wish to thank you all for your kind thoughts and words of comfort. A memorial will be held in Texas during the month of June. It will be near his birthday, which he shared with his granddaughter. This first memorial will soon be followed by another, in early July, which will be held in Michigan, where he spend his wondrous childhood. In lieu of flowers and cards, anyone wishing to pay their respects is kindly asked to instead make a small, charitable donation to the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center of Baytown, Texas, in his honor. It is a place he loved to spend his days frequently sharing his great passion for nature with his beloved granddaughter. Please contact the family for definite details of the services being held, being that at this time the dates have not yet been finalized. Thank you again for sharing in the grief of a man who will be dearly missed by all of those, whose life he touched.
