

Mary Vicenik Balke, 98, of Baytown passed away March 5, 2010 in a Pasadena health care facility. She was born on May 14, 1911 in Frydek, TX to the late Frank and Frances Vicenik. Mary was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Highlands and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baytown. She was an active member of the Alter Society and Catholic Daughters, and volunteered at various nursing homes in Baytown for many years. Mary loved cooking, baking, and quilting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in Death by her husband of 59 years, Lyman Walter ""Boots"" Balke; grandchildren, Sherilyn Balke and Casey Balke; and great granddaughter, Heather Balke. She is survived by her sons, Charles Gordon Balke and wife Lavada of Pasadena, Texas, David Wayne Balke and wife Nancy of Huntsville, Texas, Glenn Michael Balke and wife Kathleen of Kalamazoo, Michigan; daughter, Frances Loretta Bunt of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 with a Rosary Service at 6 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina Ave. Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Dwight Canizares officiating. Graveside services to follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
