Mary Estle Rosser

Mary Estle Rosser 98, formerly of Highlands, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018. She was born March 1, 1920, in Terral, Oklahoma, to Charlie and Zula Pearl Robison and moved to Highlands in 1931. Estle met the love of her life, Henry Hinton Rosser, in school, and married him on March 19, 1937 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They shared sixty-nine cherished years together. Estle moved to Sugar Land in 2013 and to San Antonio in 2016 to live with her children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hinton Rosser; by their son, Charles Rosser; by her parents; sister Faye Williams; and by her brothers Leland Robison, B. V. Robison, E. J. Robison, Edward Robison, Kenneth Robison, Doy Robison, and Weldon Robison. She is survived by daughters Gwen Saladin of Spokane, Washington, Patti Lee and husband Don of Clarkston, Washington, and Jana Rosenbaum of Houston, and by sons Herschel Rosser and wife Lucie of San Antonio and Steve Rosser and wife Carol of Austin. She also leaves behind her very special grandchildren Mike Saladin, Kristi Hovde, Jan Stachofsky, Jonathan Rosser, David Rosser, Stephen Rosser, Timothy Rosser, Benjamin Rosser, Jana Sue Rosser, Alexis Shotorbani, Kirby Rosser, Christopher Bolt, Matthew Rosser, Jennifer Rosenbaum, Robbie Rosenbaum, and Laura Rosenbaum. She will be greatly missed by her 21 great-grandchildren, host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

She graduated from Crosby High School at the top of her class and pursued knowledge all of her days, was an avid reader, and could have an intelligent discussion with anyone on world or spiritual topics. Though most of her years and energy were given to raising her six children and taking care of family, Estle made her mark on the world in other ways. She faithfully walked by her husband’s side through years of ministry; was a leader in various women’s ministries with the Assemblies of God; was a favorite “room mother” for all six children’s classes at Highlands Elementary; and was famous for her baking. Friends, relatives, ministers and neighbors were known to make any excuse to drop in for a piece of pie or a cookie from the never empty cookie tub. Her children are grateful for all the Saturday breakfasts of homemade biscuits and pancakes, and how we will miss our “puddin’ and sauce.” Estle had a secret love of baseball and played on teams as a young girl, loved to have fun and occasionally pull off a great prank.

Mary Estle Robison Rosser had a pure heart of God that was evident in her faithfulness, her many true and abiding friendships, her care of others and her daily prayers for every child, grandchild, relative or friend. No matter her circumstances, she had a grateful heart, and never faltered in her faith and love for Jesus.

The grandsons of Estle Rosser will honor her as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, from 6-8pm at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. Funeral services will be held at Navarre at 1pm on Saturday, with internment following at san Jacinto Memorial Cemetery.
