Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Billy James Rhodes, her beloved son, Ricky James Rhodes, her parents, and all of her siblings including her brothers R.L., George, Harold, Clarence, Joe and Alsey Tolleson and sister Clarice Tolleson Sharber. Maxine is survived by many adoring nieces and nephews as well as others that she loved like family.
Maxine went to school in Jefferson and soon after began her married life to Billy. She moved to Baytown with him and lived her entire adult life on the same property where he was raised. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and was also a member of Garth Road Baptist Church. Maxine loved working in the yard, playing dominos and spending time with family and friends. She also absolutely loved cooking for her family on the cherished Chamberlain stove that Billy purchased shortly before their wedding. But her all-time greatest joy was being Ricky’s mother.
Maxine was adored by many. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, especially the residents at The Waterford at Baytown – Assisted Living where she lived the last couple of years.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Waterford, Memorial Hermann Hospital, and Harbor Hospice for the excellent care that Maxine received while there.
