

May Deene Herring, 91, of Baytown, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2011, after suffering a stroke. A member of First Baptist Church, she was a faithful servant of the Lord. She ministered through years of volunteer work at hospitals, schools, and the churches where she attended.
She was the devoted wife of 72 years to Wilburn Curtis Herring and is survived by him and three children: Jim Herring and wife Beverly, Pam Murray and husband Pat, and Paula Evard and husband Brent. Grandchildren are John Herring, Lisa Murray, Jason Evard, Andrew Evard, Michele Mallin, Marcia Fraley, and Mitzi Hall. Great grandchildren include Gabriel Herring and Cadence Carr. A brother, Don Frank, also survives her, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Fannie May Frank, and 9 brothers and sisters: Ollie Frank, Jack Frank, Juanita McCauley, Pat Frank, Rowena Martin, J. R. Frank, Weldon Frank, Melvin Frank, and Faye Martin.
May Deene was happiest when caring for her husband or anyone else in need. She has enjoyed sewing crafts, PTA, mission organizations, and any activity which involved her children. An immaculate homemaker, she valued beauty in her surroundings.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday, June 20, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 505 Rollingbrook Dr., with Rev. Bill Yowell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Evard, Andrew Evard, Brent Evard, Pat Murray, James ""Popeye"" Beavers, and Jack Majors. Honorary pallbearers will be John Herring, Gabriel Herring, Denny Herring, and Kenneth McCauley.
