Merle Brown Wilkins

Merle Brown Wilkins, 83, of Channelview, formerly Baytown was born July 12, 1926 in Baytown and passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 in a local hospital. She attended Robert E. Lee High School and was a longtime employee of Weingarten's Grocery Store in Baytown and North Shore. She was an avid Astro's fan and loved to play games of all kinds. She was a member of the Greens Bayou Assembly of God Church and the C. A. Fortner Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Channelview. She loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, I. W. Wilkins and sister, Dorothea Jane Stephens. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John Wesley and Margaret Wilkins and Raymond Lee and Gloria Wilkins, all of Dayton and Richard Wayne and Roberta Wilkins of Fredericksburg; sisters, Marilyn Evans of Channelview and Barbara Little of Dayton; grandchildren, Shannon Wilkins, Erika Foss, Cheyanne Wilkins, Clint Wilkins and Sara Wilkins; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens with Rev. Don Cunningham officiating.
