Michael Dale Harvey quietly slipped the bonds of this life January 23, 2016 and entered heaven to a chorus of angels and a hearty, ""Well done my good and faithful servant!"" from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mike was born February 21, 1944 in Baytown, Texas, to Barrett Druey Harvey and Audry Edwards Harvey. He was a 1963 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, served in the U. S. Army, and, after a career as a petrochemical operator, retired from Lyondell Chemical in 2006.
Mike was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church of Baytown where he faithfully served in various capacities, including Bible study class teacher. Most often he could be found ministering to the ill and infirm and spreading the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ by witnessing and leaving printed gospel pamphlets where ever he went. He loved his Lord and he loved people, so it was only natural he loved ministering to their needs and telling people about the Lord.
Mike's philosophy of life was no secret ~ it was displayed on his refrigerator for all to see on a sheet of paper that read, ""God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better.""
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sister, Allyson Lee Harvey. He is survived by his brother, Tyrrell D. Harvey of Baytown, sister Karen Henderson and her husband, Terry, of Houston, nephew Chris Henderson and his wife, Janelle, of Houston, and nephew Trey Henderson and his wife, Kate, of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by several cousins, great-nieces, great nephews as well as other family members.
There will be a private grave-side service with Tyrrell Harvey, Terry Henderson, Chris Henderson, Trey Henderson, Wayne Smith and Jimmie Smith serving as pallbearers.
On Saturday, January 30, 2016 Mike's family will receive friends at a visitation held in the Memorial Baptist Church, Baytown, Texas, Sanctuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service also in the Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m.
