She was born in Sinton, Texas on January 13, 1939, to Willie and Rachel Coleman (deceased) of Taft, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church of Taft, Texas. She graduated from Taft high School.
She met and married Bobby Yoakum of Sinton, Texas, on August 25, 1966 and they later moved to Baytown, Texas. They united with Wooster Baptist Church, where they continued to be faithful members until their death.
Janet, as most people knew her by, had a career in Nursing. She loved homemaking, gardening, shopping, bargaining, arts and crafts, bowling, playing 42 and Advent season.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Yoakum, her parents, Willie and Rachel Coleman, and her sister, Clarece Coleman.
She is survived by one niece, and also by numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 am - 12 pm, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX 77521. Funeral service will begin at 12 pm.
