Mooneian Christine Gill, 79, of Baytown, TX passed away on June 6, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Baytown, TX on May 17, 1947, and resided there all her life, attending Ashbel Smith Elementary, Cedar Bayou Junior High and graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1965. She was a proud member of the Oneida Nation tribe and treasured her heritage and roots.
She is preceded in death by her father Chief Gordon House and her mother Ellis Mae Wade, grandparents Jessie and Ollie Mae Smith, grandson Logan Ray Gill and numerous special friends. She is survived by her beloved son Michael Gill and his wife Laura Gill of Baytown and cherished granddaughter Ella Ann Gill of Baytown, as well as lifelong friend Faith Courville of Louisiana.
She was one of a kind, a unique individual with a big heart for those she loved, most especially her son Michael and her granddaughter Ella. She enjoyed many hobbies – she played piano all of her life and up until recently could still sit down at the piano and her fingers would just take over on the keys. She was an avid bowler most of her life, on multiple teams and leagues throughout the years, even as recent as 5 years ago. She loved to gamble, in Vegas and in Louisiana, and some of her favorite times were with her son Michael on weekend trips to the Golden Nugget or Coushatta. She had a heart for animals and absolutely adored and spoiled all of her dogs over the years (and even the cats that she would sneak in to her room at night as a child) – Molly, BoBo, Bootsie, Katy, Gatsby and most recently her poodle/dachshund mix Happy, who is now with her son. What Mooneian loved most of all though, was her granddaughter Ella Ann. She adored her and they shared a special relationship and bond. She was truly the light of her life and her pride and joy, and she was so proud of the young lady she was becoming.
Mooneian’s family was small but strong and while she didn’t have a lot of blood relatives, she had many friends who were indeed family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to St James House in Baytown for caring for Mooneian, especially Miss Mary there who took excellent care of not only her but also of her family’s often fragile hearts, offering hugs and comfort when times were tough during visits. The family would also like to thank Faith Courville for her unwavering love and dedication to Mooneian and for her support through this journey. Faith and Mooneian were friends for 70 years and her commitment to her friend is unparalleled.
Mooneian will be buried at New Salem Cemetery in Henderson, Texas.
