

Nan Ray Turner was born in Lufkin. Texas on October 28, 1927 to her loving parents, Loye Goeber Kennerly and Ada Lucille Moore Kennerly.
Nan married the love her life, Walter C. Turner Sr., on June 9, 1946 in Lufkin, where they started their family. After several moves to different Texas cities, they came to Baytown, where they set up permanent residence. Nan was officially a homemaker, never working much outside of the home, but she was so much more than that. She was a longtime member of Baptist Temple Church. It was there that she pursued her passion of singing, as a member of the choir and as a soprano soloist. Nan also blessed others by singing in numerous weddings and funerals. Nan even had the honor of singing with the Baytown Symphony Orchestra. Nan also found time to teach Sunday School and work with ceramics. She created many beautiful ceramic pieces through the years. She also collected lifelike ceramic birds and flowers which she displayed in her home. Nan also collected Hallmark Christmas ornaments and gifted a specific series of these collectable ornaments, to each grandchild over the years. Nan also owned many pieces of antique furniture which were on display throughout her home. Nan also really loved to read. She loved reading from her bible, she loved studying from her Sunday School book for upcoming classes and she also loved reading novels by Louis L'Amour. What Nan loved most though, was spending time with her beloved family.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, Loye and Ada Kennerly, her husband, Walter C. Turner Sr., her brothers, Loye S. Kennerly and Robert Kennerly, sisters, Vonnie Martin and Mary Kennerly and sons, David L. Turner and Walter C. Turner Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Evans of League City and Nan Winans of Baytown and her son, Richard Turner and wife, Linda of Baytown. She's also survived by 10 grandchildren. Tracy Strode, Brian Meadows, Carrie Horton, Rachel Musil, Matthew Winans, David Turner, Nathan Turner, Sam Turner, Pamela Arabie and Travis Turner. Nan is also survived by 18 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 13 at 12:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown.
A Graveside will be held on Thursday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lufkin, TX.
