Nelson is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, L.J. Jannise and Martin Jannise; sisters, Mary Jean Barron and Georgia Mae Bilnoski; great nephew, Jimmy Wayne Jannise and great niece, Rachele Canon Richey. Nelson enjoyed listening to Cajun music, talking with family, watching boxing and football. He retired from Ideal Cement and Harris County as well as an Army veteran.
Nelson was also an avid church goer and member for more than 60 years at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Highlands, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva Jannise; sister Gracie Forrest; children, Jana Compton, Theresa Tristan, and Kathy and Jerry Isaacks; grandchildren, Dustin Tristan and fiancé Jamie Michelle Ward and Chance Waller; great grand daughters, Bobbie Belle and Teddi Monroe Tristan; as well as many nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Tristan, Chance Waller, Howard Brockinton, Don Jannise, Kenneth Forrest and Jason Weaver.
A visitation for Nelson will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562.
