

Norman Burgess Wootan, 76, of Old River-Winfree, TX was born October 29, 1928 in Alexandria, LA to Harley Orbrey and Hattie Ann Wootan and passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 in a local hospital. He was a U. S. Navy WWII veteran, having been honorably discharged in December of 1947. He was raised Catholic and attended Old River Baptist Church.
Norman and his wife Norma owned an operated an a/c and heating business in Baytown known as Wootan’s Service He served his customers with honesty and integrity for over 18 years before semi retiring in 1979. They moved to Old River-Winfree, where they built their home.
He was a loving husband and soul mate to his wife. He was greatly respected and loved by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and will be missed dearly.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with his longtime friend, Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at Hill of Rest Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his lifelong friend Roy “Sang” Kersh will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Eugene Wootan and Bernard Orbrey Wootan; sister, Mary E. Nichols; and grandchildren, William Frank and Kimberly Ann Maris. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Faye Mayer Wootan; sons and daughters-in-law, Orbrey and Tish Wootan and Rudy “Tugger” and Janelle Wootan; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Sherry Maris, Pam and Vernon Johnson, and Penny Wootan, all of Old River-Winfree; grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Julie Roy, Timothy Wootan, Chris and Christy Roy, Angela and Chad Mills, Julia and Kenneth Felice, Cindy and Jeremy Fuller, Shawna Wolfe, Craig and Nikki Straight, Clifford and Heather Straight, Candice and Brian Beck, and Clayton and Kim Wootan; great grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron, and Carrigan Mills, Taylor and Justin Roy, Jordon and Morgan Straight, Cammy Mitchell, Breanna and Amber Wolfe, Madeline Felice, Starling Fuller, Taylor Wootan, and Klaudya Cox and Eugene Regusci; sister-in-law, Elaine Wootan of Baytown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Old River Baptist Church Building Fund, 12948 FM 1409, Dayton, TX 77535.
His family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Chris Hays for all his years of special attention. They also want to thank the outstanding nursing staff at Triumph Hospital of Baytown for their wonderful skills and compassion during his final days.
