

Opal Nunn, 89, of Baytown passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Opal was born to Arthur and Bessie Williams on July 12, 1923. In 1938 she married Paul ""Gene"" Nunn. After graduating from high school, Opal attended Lee College. She then went to work for Houston Lighting and Power, from which she would eventually retire. Opal was very active in community organizations. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, the Goose Creek Order of the Eastern Star #798, the Past Matrons Club, the Social Order of Beaceant #153, the Order of Rainbow Girls and she was a past board member of the Goose Creek Assembly #80. Opal enjoyed traveling and dancing with her beloved husband, Paul. In Paul's later years she was a loving and patient caregiver to him.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Paul ""Gene"" Nunn and siblings, Troy Williams, Clifford Williams and Bonnie Downing. She is survived by her sister, Norma Jean Johnston; son, Bobby ""Gene"" Nunn and wife, Doris; daughter, Brenda Hooper and husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Greg Nunn, Devin Hooper, Dena Nunn Flanagan and husband, Mark and Laura Hooper Otterson and husband, Greg; great grandchildren, Britni, Mason, Amanda and Brooke and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel with burial to follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
