Mrs. Anderson or (“Nannie Peggy”) grew up in a house built by her own family in the 1890s. The house was complete with a dogtrot, a deep water well and an outhouse. She was the valedictorian of Groveton High School when she graduated in 1946.
Peggy Loraine Campbell married Wilmer B Anderson, owner of Trinity Leather Shop, on September 27, 1947 in Trinity, Texas. They moved to Baytown in 1955 and founded Anderson Shoe & Saddle.
Mrs. Anderson was an active servant of the Baytown Community as a President of Alamo Elementary PTA. In fact, she loved assisting Principal Kelly Martin in his first years at Alamo. She was involved in Pilot Club, Baytown Youth Fair and was the founder of the Baytown Youth Fair Prince and Princess pageant.
Nannie Peggy’s home was always open to family, friends and animals for celebrations and Sunday dinners. Sundays at the bay were a tradition for many. When asked, family contributed words that reminded us of Nannie Peggy. Some of these things may be familiar to you.
