Phama Lee (McCarley) Bowers, 100, passed from this mortal life on 3-11-2011 at Jacinto City Healthcare in Texas. She was born on June 6, 1910 in San Angelo, Texas to Robert and Bernice McCarley. A long time resident of Baytown, Phama was a full time homemaker. She was an award winning seamstress, fantastic cook, and avid garage sale shopper. Her love of First Presbyterian Church led her to fill numerous positions during her life, with the most precious being teaching the love of God to children. Phama loved her family and never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special event. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her decor and dinners drew the entire family to her home where she filled them with love, food, and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Bowers and daughter Billie Chandler. She is survived by her three remaining children, Patrick (Kay) Bowers, Molly (Jim) McCartney, and Jon (Cecelia) Bowers and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, distant relatives, and many friends. We will miss seeing her smiling face at the back door, spoon in hand with a fresh apron on, ready to welcome us home.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 15 at Earthman's Funeral Home with visitation from 10-10:30 a.m., and rites immediately following. Per her request, there will be no graveside service. Burial will be held later at Memory Gardens in Baytown, Texas.
The family wishes to thank the staff and care givers at Jacinto City Healthcare for the love, compassion, and dedication given so freely to their mother.
