Born December 1, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York to Philip and Josephine Yovino. He passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at his home in his bed at 23:23 PM. He battled cancer bravely with such a positive spirit. He was surrounded by his family and holding his sister's Mary hand. It was peaceful.
Philip lived in Jamaica, New York; Hollis, New York; and Elmont, New York. He graduated from Sewanhaka High School with honors in baseball. He played on the varsity baseball team as their catcher for 4 years, his freshman year to his senior year. Ralph says he was better than Johnny Bench. He loved baseball. After graduation, Philip joined the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Midway. Many great stories came from that time in his life. He loved the Navy.
When Phillip retired from the Navy, he returned home to Long Island New York where he found the love of his life Dorothy Emmy Stelling. They married on December 1, 1956, and move to Houston Texas to pursue the great opportunities here.
Philip bought a Shell station in downtown Houston on Franklin and Jackson Street. Where he made many, many friends and helped many truck drivers get out of a jam when they had little money. He always helped people in need. After Shell station number 2 on Katy and Gessner, Philip went to work for Bland Willis Cadillac. As he loved the beautiful Cadillacs, and he made even more friends. After 25 years there, he retired again.
Philip and Dorothy started traveling. They had beautiful RVs and went to many places throughout the US. Making many more friends and enjoying life. He loved his RV and traveling with Dorothy.
Philip loved life; he loved working on houses, fixing everything. Boating, fishing, hunting, he especially loved deer hunting. He loved animals, and he loved people.
Philip had many new and old friends, he loved them all and they all loved him.
Philip is survived by his children, Gina Marie and Philip William III. Their children Philip, Charles, Anthony, Christopher, and Christina. His wonderful family in New York his sister Mary and many, many nieces nephews cousins his brother Ralph here in Texas.
Philip was a great man, a loving man, a great friend. Kind, honest, and funny.
He loved his family most of all; he will be missed but never forgotten.
