

Prentice was born November 5, 1938 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, the oldest of three children born to “Bo” and Rosalie Davis. He grew up in Baytown, Texas, attending Cedar Bayou School and Robert E. Lee High School. Football was one of Prentice’s favorite sports, he along with 4 of his high school teammates were recruited to play for the University of Texas, by Coach Darryl Royal. During one of the games in his third year of college, he was injured and called to serve his country. He chose to serve in the Coast Guard.
While serving four years in the military, he met his wife Marie Laughlin in New Orleans, Louisiana. They had one son, Stephen.
Prentice was preceded in death by his son, Stephen, his father and his mother, his brother, W.J.; grandparents, Violet and Prentice Wright, and his uncle, Herschal Wright and aunt, Scenobia Wright Clements.
Prentice was employed for 37 years in Deer Park Chemical Plant, and enjoyed his time of retirement while fishing, deer/duck hunting, gardening, and visiting out of state relatives.
He is survived by his wife and sole survivor, Marie Davis of Baytown.
Mrs. Davis will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Wednesday October 4, 2017 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M., officiated by Chaplain Jim Mayer.
