

He was preceded in death by his loving wife LaVaun Carter in January 2006. Tack served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was stationed in Seattle, WA where he met the love of his life LaVaun. Tack and LaVaun celebrated 60 years of marriage. He was a life long resident of Baytown and was the owner of Carter’s Ceramic Tile and Floor-covering. He was also a 60 year member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192 AF&AM. He was a 32° Mason and a Scottish Rite Shriner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Monroe Carter and Ruby Rhoden, brothers, Marvin Lee Carter, Wiley Ray Carter, sisters, Jewel Elizabeth Dawson and Alene Phillips.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and David Leitow of Kalkaska, MI, Terry and Joe Bernal of Baytown, TX and Karen and Steve Wittry of Humble, TX. Grandchildren, Gene T. Hildebrandt II of Michigan City, IN, Thomas Hildebrandt of Baytown, TX, Micah Bernal of Baytown, TX, Alisha Contreras of Baytown, TX and Tracy Leitow of Mancelona, MI. Great-grandchildren, Jaime Tamayo, Jr., Joshua, Melody and Gene H. Hildebrandt, Trace, Troy and Alyssa Bernal, Taylor Salazar, Kassandra Contreras, Nikolas Rodriguez, David and Brandon Leitow, numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Sherry Carter.
His family will receive friends Monday, June 18th at Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 19th, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown with Chaplain Rogers Thomson officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Hildebrandt, Micah Bernal, Wiley Carter, Jr., Abel Jimenez, Jose Montes and Ricky Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be David Leitow, Joe Bernal, Steve Wittry, Thomas Hildebrandt and Travis Phillips, Jr.
Our Dad was a loving and fun father and a wonderful husband to his wife. His goal in life was to take care of his girls. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Allenbrook Health Care staff, and a special thank you to his dedicated and loving nurses Tiffany and Grace, also thank you to Regency Hospice Staff for their compassion and care.
