

Raleigh John Primeaux, 82, of Baytown, TX passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Raleigh was born in Acadia, LA to John and Azena Primeaux on November 12, 1929. He was baptized at the Church of St. Michael in Crowley, LA on December 14, 1929. The majority of his youth was spent in Crowley, LA.
Raleigh received an honorable discharge as a Seaman from the U. S. Navy in June of 1952 at the age of 23. His most significant duty assignment was aboard the USS Charles P. Cecil. Following his discharge, he relocated to Baytown to be near his brother Huey and his family. Raleigh retired after many years of service from ARMCO Steel in Houston in the 1980's. He was devoted to St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he attended for many years. He loved his grandchildren. He also loved traveling, dancing, and playing games with his family and friends.
Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Evelyn Primeaux; and brothers, Huey, Harry, and Wilson Primeaux. He is survived by his special friend, Helen Barton of Pasadena; sister, Vergene Comeaux of Lafayette, LA; brother and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Frances Primeaux of Crowley, LA, Rita Primeaux of Opelousas, LA, and Mary Primeaux of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Joe Wheat of Baytown; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Norma Meadows of Dayton and Mark and Jess Meadows of Deer Park; grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Sonja Englert, Gary and Diane Englert, Kelly and Robert Regian, and Kevin and Melissa Meadows, all of Baytown, Keny and Jennifer Meadows and Jason and Julia Meadows, all of La Porte, John and Amy Meadows of Austin, and Donna and Mike Dawson of Cove; and numerous nieces and nephews in Texas and Louisiana as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina St., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Dwight Canizares officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
