I lived around the corner from the De Leon’s for a few years. It was a hard time in my life and the whole family welcomed me with open arms. Ramon was a great friend, wonderful listener, and always had a laugh and a smile waiting to cheer anyone up. He has always been a high point in my childhood memories. My prayers go out for all the family. We’ll all meet again some day. Rest In Peace my friend.

I remember once Ramon, our son Gary and daughter Lynn, and neighbors Ray and Raymond talking about being younger. Ramon said he was always afraid of Lynn's Dad because he was so tall. I asked if he was more afraid of me or Mr Smith -- Oh you Mrs Smith. always you Mrs Smith.

(Center-Right) Ramon DeLeon III served a short period of his service in the Army as a Drill Sergeant and did so with fierce determination, grit, and purpose to train civilians into battle ready Soldiers. Here's some of us few that had the pleasure to serve by his side on "The Trail" as true Battle Buddies and the Cadre of D Troop, 5-15 Cavalry at Fort Knox, KY.

"The Trail" that very few have known. We elite men that were so very blessed by your presence during the storms. "Battle D!"...is our affectionate name for you. You had our backs as we had yours. To lose yet another dear brother is so heartbreaking...so we shall fend off the sorrows in due time with all the joyful memories you impressed upon us. Until we meet again on the high ground, love you Battle.
