Ray Lacour

Ray Lacour, 80, passed away in his home on July 22, 2026. Born May 18, 1946, Ray lived in Houston, Texas. He will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady integrity, faithful devotion, and a generous, kind-hearted spirit—often brightened by a warm sense of humor that put others at ease.

Ray attended Sam Houston State College, where he majored in business and agriculture and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Those early years reflected the practical diligence and grounded values that would continue to shape his life and work.

Before beginning his professional career, Ray managed his dad’s rice farms in Liberty County. He later started his career with State Farm Insurance, where he began an agency and moved into management. After 30 years of service, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of honest work, dependable leadership, and the quiet confidence of someone who did things the right way.

Ray was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Hooper LaCour; his daughter, Lynn LaCour Wells of Bellaire, Texas; twin grandchildren, Dean and Stella Wells; his sisters, Miriam LaCour Fatheree and Kathi LaCour Barnett; his sister in law, Jan Owen Hooper; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Katie Thomas LaCour; his sister, Carolyn LaCour LeNormand; his brother, Michael Enoch LaCour; his Father in law Bubba Hooper and mother in law, Lola Hooper; and his brother in law, Joe Hooper.

A faithful member of Gateway Community Church, Ray impacted many young men as a mentor, offering steady guidance, patient encouragement, and a presence that made others feel seen and supported. He also loved volunteering as a photographer at Gateway, giving his time and talent in a way that reflected both his humility and his care for the community around him.

Ray enjoyed playing golf and traveling around the world, embracing life with an appreciative spirit and a ready smile—finding joy in both familiar routines and new horizons.
