Reginald "Reggie" Espin Ethridge

Reggie Ethridge, 82, passed away on October 6, 2020. He was born in Huttig, Arkansas to Curtis and Orena Ethridge. His childhood years were spent in La Porte, Texas. After graduating from La Porte High School, he attended Stephen F. Austin University. He worked for DuPont, retiring after 35 years of service. Reggie was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Baytown. In 1977, Reggie married Mary Jane Wyatt and their life together was truly a love story. Known as PaPa, he was devoted to all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. He will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man. Reggie made an impact on the youth of Baytown through coaching and umpiring Little League baseball. An avid hunter and golfer, he also loved watching all sports. Reggie was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Daniel Sonnier. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Jane Ethridge. Also surviving are his children Gwen Proffer and husband Andy, Tracy Ethridge and wife Dionne, and Keith Ethridge. Other survivors include nephews and nieces who he considered as his children, Scott Atkinson and wife Melissa, Drew Atkinson and wife Missy, Holly Morris and husband Brett; grandchildren include Ashley Sonnier, Dustan Ethridge and wife Brandi, Jake Ethridge and wife Shayla, Lauren and husband Cody Warr, Zachary Ethridge and Jade, Allison Ethridge and Patrick Jones, Mckenna Ethridge; great nieces and great nephews include Brittany Hebert and Rubin Mata, Taylor Atkinson and wife Taylor, Cooper Atkinson, Lauren Oaks, Drake Atkinson and wife Whitley, Savannah Washburn and husband Jeff, Zachary Morris and wife Megan, Toni and Rodney Patterson; great grandchildren include Brianna Sonnier, Colton, Alexi and Brooke Flesher, Caidi, Lilly, Aiden, Daxtyn, Remi, Rugar, Kendall, Gia, Trey, Hunter, Avery, Drake Washburn, John Washburn, Amarie, Bella, Ryder, and Tinsley. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 West Sterling Avenue in Baytown. Services will follow at 11:00 am Alan Beck, Associate Pastor, will conduct the services. Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road in Baytown. Pallbearers will be Dustan Ethridge, Jake Ethridge, Scott Atkinson, Drew Atkinson, Taylor Atkinson, Drake Atkinson, Cooper Atkinson, and Brett Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Mata and Rodney Patterson Jr. If desired, donations may be made to Memorial Baptist Church in Reggie’s name.
