Richard “Dicky” Bigler, 63, was carried gently into the next chapter of his life this Monday, October 26th, 2026. He left this world in much the same way that he lived in it, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, coach; all words that describe what he was to those he knew, yet none captures what he truly meant to those his life touched.
Born August 8,1963 in Baytown, Texas to Clyde Bigler (dec) and Jeanette Ott Bigler (dec), he was the youngest of 5 siblings, Priscilla Bigler Kearns, Keith Bigler (dec), Craig Bigler (dec), and Stanley Bigler (dec). He was raised active in his community, spending his time involved at Second Baptist Church, playing softball, and camping with his family. He graduated college with a Bachelor of Finance from Sam Houston University, where he also met the love of his life, Sharla Roberts Bigler, to whom he has been married for 39 years. He went on to build a successful career in industrial software sales, while raising his two children, Brett Bigler and Bailey Bigler, and actively participating in their lives. He lived a vibrant and productive life, camping, boating, entertaining, and karaoke on the patio, all with his family and friends in tow.
In January 2021, Richard began his battle with cancer. After a stage 4 diagnosis, he fought valiantly for a year and a half and received clear scans. At that time, he took control of his life, minimized his assets, and bought an RV. He devoted all his time and effort towards being with his family, travelling with his wife, Sharla, and tackling their bucket list. After a second terminal diagnosis in October of 2024, he turned his energy towards making sure everyone he knew and loved was comfortable. Even in his toughest times, he considered his family the most important thing.
Following his courageous, 6-year battle with cancer, Richard has now left us to his eternal rest. Having lost so much in his life before, he never once let loss keep him from living. His legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will be carried forward by all of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held in Richard’s honor from 2-6 PM on November 14th, 2026, at RD Burnside Barn (6427 E. Wallisville Rd.), where everyone who knew and loved him can come pay respects. The family has asked for those who’d like to send any memories, pictures, or songs that remind them of him to www.richardbiglercelebrationoflife.com or to [email protected].
In lieu of sending flowers, it was his wish to direct donations to https://bravebullyrescue.org/donate/ or https://everykidsports.org/ or any cause you feel close to.
