Richard “Cowboy” Dale Duhon, Jr. (1968-2024) age 55 of Livingston, Texas was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on March 14, 2024. He was born on April 09, 1968, in Baytown, Texas to Richard Sr. and Caroline Duhon. He was married to Sonja Duhon for 30 years. Richard was a faithful man who loved the Lord and his family.
When Richard was born, he was taken from the hospital straight to the arena where his father was steer dogging. His father proudly placed him on the horse with him, and his forever nickname “Cowboy” was established. Richard’s love for horses only grew from there and led to a lifelong passion for horses.
Richard was raised in Baytown, Texas, and was one of five children. He attended school in Baytown and was active in the FFA. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1986. In 1990, Richard began dating Sonja Harris who had grown up in the same neighborhood as him. They went on to marry in March of 1994 and together they welcomed a son in 2000 and a daughter in 2004. He was a devoted loving husband and father to his wife and children.
In 1994, Richard went to work at the Chevron Phillips Cedar Bayou plant where he would go on to dedicate 30 years. He worked his way up and spent the last 24 years working in maintenance planning. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, working with his tractor, and playing video games. He also enjoyed fishing for tree branches and the occasional fish.
One of his proudest days was July 26, 2015, when Richard was made anew through baptism. His Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He spent many hours studying his bible and opening his heart to God’s word. He leaned on his faith in God to give him the hope and strength he needed while battling illness.
Richard is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; Georgina and Ernest Wehmeyer and Willis and Naomi Duhon, his uncle Patrick Duhon and his aunt Kay Duhon. He leaves behind his cherished wife Sonja, his steadfast companion in life’s journey; his children, Jacob and Emily; and his parents, Richard Sr. and Caroline Duhon. He is also survived by his brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, a host of special friends, and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 am, Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM.
Following the memorial service everyone is welcome to come to a reception at Luna's in Baytown (at your own expense).
