Richard Keith Knappenberger, 89, of Baytown, Texas, passed away March 17, 2025. Richard was born to Keith and Darlyne Knappenberger on August 25, 1935 in Augusta, Illinois. He graduated from Texas City High School in 1954 and served in The United States Air Force from July 3, 1957 to June 30, 1961. He married Roxie Anne Kubik in 1966, and they lived together in Baytown, Texas. Together they raised two children and a lot of animals.
He is survived by his loving wife Roxie Knappenberger, daughter Roxanne Robinson, son-in-law Bob Robinson, son Ricky Knappenberger, daughter-in-law Kelley Knappenberger and sister-in-law Kristie Vidrine. He also leaves to cherish his memory six grandchildren, Madison Knappenberger, Blake Robinson, Courtney Robinson, Alexis Wells, Zachary Robinson, and Ashton Robinson; his nephews Kurt Vidrine and wife Amanda, and Mark Knappenberger; niece Misty Miles and husband Troy ; great nephew Ben Vidrine, and great nieces Livi Miles and Anna Vidrine.
He was preceded in death by his parents Keith and Darlyne Knappenberger, sister Elizabeth Cowdery, brother Charles Knappenberger, and brother-in-law Mitch Vidrine.
Richard was a 10th generation brick and stone mason and he owned his own business for forty years, 4R Masonry & Tile LLC. He enjoyed taking care of his animals / donkeys, going hunting, spending time outside and he always enjoyed all of his family and friends and sneaking over to the Fontenot’s house to have a cold one.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. There will be a Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with graveside service to follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. Steve Pike will officiate the ceremony.
The family would also like to thank Russel Chandler, our neighbor of fifty years, for always being here for us night or day to help with whatever we needed. A special thank you to caregiver Tiffany Foy, she took amazing care of Richard like he was her own family, and nurse James Linsing, who made him as comfortable as possible.
