January 6, 1949 – October 26, 2026
Rita Mouton's beautiful journey began on January 6, 1949, in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she was born to the late Sam and Ezola Mouton. Raised with strong family values and a rich Louisiana heritage, Rita carried the love, traditions, and spirit of her upbringing throughout her life.
After graduating from Breaux Bridge High School, Rita began a career in healthcare as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), dedicating herself to caring for others. She later continued her passion for nurturing and caring for people as a professional nanny, a career from which she eventually retired.
Rita was a woman who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved speaking her native Creole language, dancing to the lively sounds of Zydeco music, playing cards, and making memorable trips back home to Louisiana to visit family. And just like her beloved parents, Sam and Ezola, Rita enjoyed a good cup of coffee. Those little things brought her happiness and made her uniquely Rita.
Above all, Rita's greatest treasures were her family and the memories they shared. Her love, wisdom, personality, and unforgettable presence will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her son Jesse Mouton; and her brother Johnny Mouton. Rita leaves behind a loving family to celebrate her life and carry on her legacy, including her two daughters, Vicki Thibodeaux Metcalf (Jimmy Metcalf) and Twanna Singleterry. Her beloved grandchildren, Taylor Kennedy, Ryan Singleterry, Rayna McClintock, Royce McClintock, Chase Thibodeaux, and Raegan McClintock; and her precious great-grandchildren, Kailey, Roman, Ryan, Jr., Raylan, and Ramir. She also leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Dorothy Locuste and Bridget Mouton; her numerous nieces and nephews; along with a host of extended family members, loved ones, and dear friends.
With sincerest appreciation, the family of Rita Mouton would like to thank our extended family members and many friends for their expression of love. Thank you for your prayers, visits and calls. We would further like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph's medical team, The Houston Ambulance Service, LoveStrong Crematorium, Earthman Funeral Home, Dr. Roderick McClintock and others for their tribute resolutions and Houston Memorial Gardens for the excellent care they provided to our mom, our Grandzie.

A Final Message from Rita
Although my earthly journey has come to an end, my love and memories will never fade. You may no longer hear my voice on the telephone, share another cup of coffee, or watch me enjoy my favorite Zydeco music, but the joy I brought into your lives will remain forever.
And if you ever find yourself wishing you could pick up the phone and call me one more time, remember this:
“I no longer have a telephone number, but you can always call God. You'll find Him listed on every page of the Good Book.”
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
In the Spirit,
Rita
