Robert John Cote

Robert John Côté, 92, of Baytown, TX was born August 12, 1921, in West Stewartstown, NH and passed away Friday, August 8, 2014, in a local hospital. He was a 1943 graduate of Bates College and a U. S. Navy WWII veteran. He taught chemistry for the Navy at North Carolina State and Iowa State and later worked on the Manhattan Project. He was a chemist, retiring from Mobay, now known as Bayer Material Science and was a member of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church and the Bird and Blooms Club of Livingston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marion Côté, brother, Richard Côté; sisters, Patricia Glassey and Priscilla Cook; and son, Toby J. Côté. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn W. Côté of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Mary Ann Côté of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Cecile and Jim Ross of Rolla, MO and Janine and Robert Schrock of Baytown; grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny and Matt Grundy of Liberty, MO, Seth and Susan Schrock of Arlington, Wade and Lisa Schrock of Baytown, Cale and Laura Schrock of Deer Park, Toby Ross of Iowa City, IA, and Katie and Cameron Côté, both of Baytown; and great grandchildren, Kate, Jane, and Erin Grundy and Owen, Maggie, and Mason Schrock.

His family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Navarre Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Navarre Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, which would have been his 93rd birthday, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. John Newsome officiating. At his request, he will be cremated and interred next to his son at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
