Robert Jordan, of Baytown, passed away on September 9th, 2024. Robert was born in 1952 to Bob and Betty Jordan. He was raised in Channelview by his loving grandparents Ira & Minnie Jordan. As a young man, he worked as an auto-technician and taught auto-mechanics at San Jacinto College before becoming the proud owner and operator of Jordan Automotive, a business he ran for over 40 years.
Robert met the love of his life, Karlas, by accidentally challenging her to a street race in high school. They were married in 1970 after he received the full endorsement of Karlas’ mother Evelyn Banks, who loved him like a son. Robert & Karlas raised three children Dustin, Jason, & Robyn, and have 7 wonderful grandchildren Joseph, Cody, Sydney, Jacob, Addison, Branom, and Matthew. In 54 years of loving marriage, Robert always believed Karlas belonged on a pedestal and did everything to make sure she knew it. They built many things together: a loving family, a successful business, and the home they laughingly referred to as the “Ranch”.
Robert was an avid lover of cars and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and riding horses. He was a proud member of the Trinity Episcopal Church for over 45 years, serving for years as the congregation’s Senior Warden. Robert will be remembered by all who knew him as a generous, kind, hardworking and honest man with the ultimate set of tools and an incredible gift for fixing just about anything.
