Robert Emery Wingate

Robert Emery Wingate, 87, of Coldspring, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Livingston. He was born October 9, 1929 in Boling, Texas to his late parents, George Ben Wingate and Ollie Bell Bean Wingate

Mr. Wingate spent his youth in Dickinson, served two years in the U.S. Air Force before working offshore and in the field for Humble Oil, after which he joined the Baytown Fire Department in 1964 and retired from the department, as Assistant Fire Chief, in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Wingate and a son, Donny Lee Wingate.

Survivors include his daughter, Diana Lynn Wingate; brother, Bruce Wingate and his wife, Audrey; sister, Era Bell Otto; 4 grandchildren, William Cody Gilliam, Carleigh Diane Gilliam, Monica Lee Wingate and Rachael Wingate Stinson; 4 great-grandchildren, Jasper Thomas Gilliam, Trent Jule Stinson, Trinity Renea Stinson and Ryder D. Adams and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Cedarcrest Cemetery with Rev. David Green officiating and the Baytown Fire Department presenting honors.
