

Rodney T. Delano, Jr., 28, of Houston, TX was born July 19, 1982 in Houston and passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Pasadena. He was a 2000 graduate of Galena Park High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Houston Clear Lake. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Rodney's love for drag racing began at the age of 3. For many years, he traveled from race track to race track with his grandpa ""Hokie"" and grandma Ruby. When the Jr. Dragster league was formed, Rodney was one of the first ones in line to get a car and line up at the light. In 1999, he was awarded Advanced Champion at Houston Raceway Park. He raced in the Jr. Dragster league until the age of 17. At this time he got to experience being the driver of his grandpa's full-size dragster for over a year.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carl L. “Hokie” Holcombe and Cecil Dupree and aunt, Brenda Lockler. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Holcombe Warren, stepfather, Clyde Warren, Jr., and sister, Emily Ann Warren, all of Houston; grandparents, Ruby Holcombe of Dayton and Juanita Dupree and Clyde, Sr. and Oletta Warren, all of Houston; great grandmother, Dora McClellan of Baytown; girlfriend, Eve Murdock of Clear Lake; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Lockler, Ryan Lockler, Michael Holcombe, Ben Andrews, Brandon Blackmon, and Daniel Griffith.
