I was so saddened to hear of Rommi's passing..I am riding for Rommi in the MS 150 this year and will be wearing a bandana signed by her in honor of her memory..

I just discovered that she had passed by googling her name and wish I had an opportunity to contact her before..

My thought and prayers are with Rommi's family and I will be thinking of her all throughout the ride and the many others afflicted by MS.  I hope the efforts of the many who are riding for this worthy cause will one day make a difference in finding a cure for this disease..

I am riding in the MS150 and Rommi was designated as my champion.  As it turns out, I got her information two weeks after her passing.  I was just about to reach out to her using the contact information provided by the sponsors , but decided before contacting her that I would Google her name and found this site.

I know my condolences hold little value because I did not know her but I can truly see the immensity of her spirit in her photo and I can easily picture the strength and grace with which she faced the challenges of this disease.

The bandana given to me has a hand-written note on it.  It admonishes me to ""Pedal Faster"".  I do not know if Rommi actually wrote that note, but it sounds like something she would say.  If you would like the bandana, please contact me and I will gladly return it to you.

I will ride this weekend with a sadness that I did not get to meet Rommi, but also with an encouragement that she would approve of me riding for others in her name.  Pedal faster, indeed.

I knew Rommi through Art League Houston's Healing Arts class. This ongoing program serves adults with disabilities that includes many, such as myself, with MS. She was a cherished member of our group. We were always happy to see Rommi. I praise God that she is now free of MS.

I have known Ms. Power since January 6, 2009.  She has been one of my dearest patients at the MS Clinic.  I would like to dedicate this poem to her about death and feelings of the loved ones afterwards by a famous Turkish poet.

If the day has come to take the anchor out from the time,

We were shocked to receive the e-mail from Mr. Nathan about the sadest lossing of Rommi, whom we'd talk with just two weeks ago after a MS doctor's speach. Her soft talk, beautiful smile, positive attitude and  encouraged spirit have empressed us every time we've met together and will do so forever. That night, in the parking lot, Rommi's special friend Ern lift and held her with his both arms, put her into the car very carefully...That picture is most gorgeous one printed in our memory.
Dear sister Rommi, you can rest in the love and peace of our Lord.

To the family I send my prayers, and that Christ would not only give piece, but comfort as well knowing that through him we will see her again.

Dear Dunn Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Rommi's sudden death. We had such good times in school and the wonderful cross country trip a few years ago. I'll always remember our trips to Garner and Rommi's funny story about ""shooting the tubes"". I remember the sleep overs, making the banners for football games, riding around with John Lee and Neil Hamil, band practice, dropping by The Cottage...her laugh was contagious and I will miss my friend.

I was shocked yesterday to hear of Rommi's passing on Friday.  I met Rommi at our MS support group and was always inspired by her spirit and positive attitude and loved her sense of humor.  She always made me smile, even in dark times.  She will be missed.

Truly, earth has lost another angel!  Furthermore, she was one of the most remarkable angels that I have ever had the honor and pleasure of meeting.  I met Rommi a few years back at an Ups and Downs meeting.  At the time my world seemed to be falling out from under my feet.  I had recently been forced out of my career (due to my own challenges with MS) and was not only struggling with that loss, but also struggling on how to fully accept and embrace the new implications my disease was presenting to my life.  Rommi embraced life and was a true joy to be around; she was always positive and encouraging.  She was truly an example of courage and triumph over adversity.  I wish to offer my deepest sympathy to her family and friends, for your loss must be overwhelming.  All of us in the MS community that knew Rommi will be forever touched by the experience of knowing her  There is absolutely no way anyone that knew her could not have been..  God bless her soul and let her light shine ever so bright in heaven!    I light a candle in her memory as a symbol that her light burns on!

My prayers go out to Rommi's family and her dear friend Ern.  My daughter (Kim Henson who also has MS) and I met Rommi at the monthly MS  meeting and she was such a sweetheart.  We loved her; we will miss seeing that welcoming smile and she will be sorely missed.  May God bring comfort to all those who knew and loved her.

Rommi was my friend for over 25 years. We've always been there for each other through good times and bad. I cannot believe she is gone and I will miss her dearly as will many others who were her friends. She will always be remembered for her quick smile, sense of humor and endless upbeat attitude no matter what she was faced with. My sincere condolences to all who loved her.

I met Rommi a few years ago when I became involved with multiple sclerosis events.  Rommi to me was always a very outgoing person, very quick with a smile on her face, always making you feel loved and wanted, and very important. She lit up my day when I saw her, and made me feel good. It came as a shock to me this morning when I was picking up the phone to call and remind her of our usual MS  meeting tomorrow, when I suddenly received that fatal call, breaking the terrible news to me!  I felt devastated!  It is hard for me to realize that such a wonderful human being as Rommi is really gone. I will truly miss seeing her beautiful face and sharing life's little things with her.  My deepest condolences go to her family and all who knew her and were touched by her kind heart.  May God be with you, dear Rommi, and may you always rest in peace.  You will always be in my heart, and I know that one day we will meet in heaven.  I send you all my love always, and may God bless you.

Hello Dunn Family - As you may recall, I was in Scouts with Randy and Allen, as well as in the REL Band with Randy and, for one brief year, with Rommi. I was greatly shocked and terribly saddened to learn of her demise from Tommy Fain late on Friday. I remember Rommi as being always happy with a spring in her step (on and off the marching field), and with a smile on that cute face of hers. Dearest Family and Friends of Rommi, What a huge loss we that loved Rommi, those who knew her, those who were encouraged by her with her great courage and great sense of humor.  Multiple Sclerosis could not keep her from meetings/dinners where she would share her love, strength and hope with us all. Rommi and I hit it off as friends when we met at one MS meeting. We  encouraged and learned from each other how to enjoy life in spite of MS. I can't begin to tell you how so sorry I am for your loss. I remember Rommi so well in school. I fell for her the first time I saw her in the Band Hall her Freshman year. She was my girlfriend for a time back at RELEE and I remember the fun times we all had at your house for Band parties.  Such a beautiful person. May God be with all of you during this time.

On behalf of the Dunn family, I would like to thank everybody for the kind words of condolence posted here and also by numerous e-mails, by telephone, and in person.  We are very touched by the huge display of kindness and sympathy from our many friends and loved ones.  It has also been so nice to have Rommi's friends share warm stories about Rommi and her wonderful spirit.  One of the things that I admired most about Rommi was her tenacity and the fact that she refused to allow a debilitating disease such as MS to slow her down or prevent her from doing the things that she really wanted to do.  In spite of the daily challenges that she faced, she had so much fun and she lived her life to the absolute fullest, up to the very end.  And, Rommi's positive outlook and determination to live her life to the fullest, along with the great times and many common interests that she shared with her beloved Ernie, helped to make the last part of her life her absolute happiest.

My heart is filled with sadness at the loss of Rommie.  I remember lots of fond memories.  She was always the life of the party.  Iâ€™m have great memories over they last few years how she would make us laugh at all the Dunn gatherings.  I rode in MS150 and she was my biking buddy.  She was like a monkey on my back.  I had a handkerchief with her name and message and wore around my neck.  When I didnâ€™t think I could go up another hill she was my strength. I just said â€œshe would love to be on the bike riding to raise money to support and cure multiple sclerosisâ€.
She even wrote me a check for a donation and was very touching to receive this.  Last April I had given her the handkerchief that was my strength to go another mile.  I will always remember her  smile and her laughter.  It was very great to see her so involved in multiple sclerosis.  Iâ€™m so happy she lived her life to the fullest.  She really enjoyed life. I will miss Rommie very much but will always have her in my memory.  I will continue to support Multiple Scerlosis in my memory.  Thoughts and prayers go to all the family and friends.

I just saw Rommi at the National MS Society's Valentine Party last month.  She seemed so full of energy and life.

She lit up talking about Ernie too.  My heart goes out to him as I know they both needed and depended on one another.

One day there will be a world without MS, until then it hurts all the way around.
