She graduated from Crosby High School and during that time worked in her sister Millie's cafe. She married Albert H. Franta on May 25, 1936, and they raised three daughters, Peggy, Karen and Rosalyn.
Together they opened a Pontiac dealership in Crosby and moved it to Highlands in 1947 where they worked together side by side at Franta Pontiac-GMC Company. She was the business office manager and kept the financial side of the business in proper order as with all of her personal affairs and daily living to her death. Later they also opened Franta Motor Company in Baytown selling Desoto and Plymouth automobiles.
Her longevity was attributed to her taking good care of herself, rising early to attend to her errands and the pride of her well maintained yard by her own hand with the many varieties of beautiful flowers. She was well known in the neighborhood for being seen out on her riding mower doing her yardwork.
Rosa Lee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughters, Peggy Franta Carrell and Karen Franta Hawkins; son-in-law, James E. Carrell; infant grandson, Jon Brandon Boehme; and twelve siblings including an identical twin sister. She is survived by daughter, Rosalyn Franta Boehme of Mont Belvieu; son-in-law, Pete A. Hawkins of Terrell Hills; grandsons, Jay Carrell of Livingston, Jarrod B Boehme of Mont Belvieu, and J. Bryan Boehme and wife, Ashley, of Helotes; granddaughters, Allison H. Sampson and husband Richard, of Terrell Hills, Heather H Kubiak of Arlington and Joanna L. Boehme of Buda; great grandchildren, Dixon Sampson, Lila Boehme, Wyatt Boehme and step great granddaughter, Kenley Havard; sisters-in-law, Angelee Zadrapa of Highlands and Emma Zadrapa of Baytown; and many, many nieces and nephews.
