Rosario Maria Faina

Rosi was born in Quito, Ecuador on August 22, 1942, to the late Francisco Tobar and Josefina Paredes. She came to this country at the age of 17 to make a better life for herself and her sisters and lived in New York for many years. On March 17, 1972, she married the love of her life, Ivan Rogelio Faina, and together they built a home filled with warmth, faith, love and laughter. She learned English, became a citizen and worked from a young age until she retired at the age of 65. Ivan and Rosi moved to Houston in the mid 1970s. She had worked for Kroger going on 25 years when she retired, starting as a sacker and working her way up to Deli Manager. She took pride in her work as a manager and always talked about all the fun times she had at the food shows with her friends every year. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and had a passion for gardening, home renovation, traveling, spending time with family, dancing and shopping.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivan Faina, her grandsons Aaron Ivan Faina and Christian Robert Springer, her parents Francisco Tobar and Josefina Paredes, and her siblings Ines, Juana, Teresa, and Pacho. She is survived by her children: sons Andres Faina with his wife Merlin Faina from Baytown, Carlos Faina with his fiancé Renee Lerma from Austin, and daughter Sofia Springer with her husband Bryan Springer from Baytown, her grandchildren: Andre’ Faina, Anna Faina, Kaylee Sutton, Alyssa Springer, Alexis Springer, a brother Manuel Tobar from Quito Ecuador and sister Beatrice Carbajal with her husband Gustavo Carbajal from Miami, Florida.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who attended concerts, games, recitals, competitions, tournaments, baptisms, confirmations, weddings, down to weekly family dinners. She was “Abuelita” to her grandchildren and treasured every moment she could spend with them. She was hardworking, loving, funny, emotionally in tune, and a constant presence in her family’s life. She never shied away from a challenge and worked hard on her home, constantly renovating it to the point the family called her home a museum. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren because of her driven nature to work hard, no matter how tired she was, she never gave up on her dreams and always persevered until she succeeded in her goals. She will be forever loved and missed by many…

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home at 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 800 W. Baker Road, Baytown, TX 77521, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Procession to graveside to follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery at 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521, from 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm.
