

Ruben was very active in his community of Baytown. In the early 60's he served as a volunteer fireman for Station #4 which was located on Ward Rd. He became Chief and Assistant Chief throughout his years with the volunteer department. In the late 60's he became the first Emergency Corps Diver for the City of Baytown and served many years.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Henry G. Sr. and Josephine B. Garza; his brother, Henry Garza Jr. and his sisters, Beatrice Arthur, Henretta Arroyo, Viola Robinson and Irene Gongoria. As well as his longtime friend Garvin Tallent.
He is survived by his wife Olga Irma Garza; brother, Ray Garza; sisters, Olga Arroyo, Helen Millican, Grace Gonzalez, Maggie Kitch and Maryou Lou Rikeman; daughters Maria Garza Hernandez, Leticia Garza Delgado and husband, Servando, Laura Garza-Wamble and husband, Floyd; Nephew that was raised as a son, Maximo Longoria and wife, Irma; grandchildren, Ruben Hernandez, Rachel Lundquist and husband, Cliff, Dustin Delgado and wife, Sally, Kelsey Delgado and fiancé, Cepillo Trujillo, Jonathan Delgado and wife, Tonya, Ariel Garza, Zachary Wamble, Gabriel Longoria, Jacqueline Longoria, Jazzlyn Longoria, Abbigail Longoria and Joshua Longoria; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Morgan Landyn and Garrett Hernandez, Natalie Lundquist, Madlyn and Ava Sophia Delgado and Layla Lene Trujillo. As well as numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a rosary service to follow at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. With burial to follow at Memory Garden Cemetery.
