She was formerly a member at Eastside Baptist Church and a current member at Old River Baptist Church. She was the Director at Eastside Baptist Church Day Care and also served as The Children’s Director for Sunday school for many years and was involved in many missionary and women ministries. She loved music and sang in church choir. She also was a member of the Silver Streak Travel Club and enjoyed many years of traveling around the country after retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Gene Edward Gunn. Her son, Michael Wayne Gunn, her grandson, Christopher McLarrin Sherry, her parents, Frank and Ida Mae Collins, and brothers David Collins, Bobby Collins, Dale Collins and Alton Collins.
She is survived by her son, Larry Gene Gunn, daughter, Pat Erwin, daughter and son-in-law Janet and Kernie Baker Jr. Grandchildren, Angela Warden, Cindy Turner, Gene Gunn, Laura Nasipak,
Brandon Santana, Jeremy Santana, Danielle Brooks, and Andrew Santana, Steven Sherry,
John Michael Sherry, and Kernie Baker III, as well as 22 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
The family wants to thank Barbara Brooks and Gail Farr for helping us take care of our mother. For the love and prayers that they showed her and what a blessing these two women were to her and our family as we walked through this time in her life.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Monday, June 27, 2022, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Funeral service will begin at 11 am, with interment to follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, Texas.
