Steve loved to make people laugh. When you’d least expect it, he would break out into song VERY dramatic with, “Feelings, nothing more than feelings, trying to forget…” He would also call people or animals by different names I think just to aggravate you. For an example, kitty cat Peaches became Pickles. When he would sneeze, he would sneeze so loud that it would hurt your ears. Right afterwards in a very serious tone, he would say, “Did you hear me sneeze?” His DuPont co-workers dubbed him as the River Rat because he loved to go to his cabin on the Neches River and fish. He also loved golf, Blackjack and his Astros. Recently, Steve said, “I always wanted to play for the Astros.” Well now, he’s 3rd baseman playing for the #1 home team.
Steve attended Sam Houston State University. However, he decided to serve his country in the army and went to Vietnam. He received these honors: Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Commendation Medal with Device 60, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, 1 Overseas bar, and Good Conduct Medal.
He was never negative. If you ever asked him how he was, he’d always say, “I’m wonderful.”
Steve was kind. That’s what his heart was for. He would do anything for anyone if you asked him.
Steve was a beloved, witty, kind-hearted, and honorable man. He was also a loving, devoted, loyal husband, Daddy, PaPa and friend who will always be cherished in our minds and hearts.
