Russell Calvin Solis

Russell C. Solis, 79, of Baytown, TX was born in Baytown on May 6, 1926 and passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 in a Houston hospital. He was an active member of 1st Christian Church and retired from Exxon Refinery and was a U. S. Navy WWII veteran. He was an avid golfer who loved to travel. With his wife, he traveled all over the world, but his favorite destination was the state of California.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Calhoun, John Scheurich, Chris Shemwell, Chris Calhoun, Jimmy Collins, and Jerry Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Allie Solis and 2 brothers and 4 sisters and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Willie Jo Solis of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Randy Calhoun of Greenville, SC, Theresa and Chris Shemwell of New Braunfels, and Sandy and John Scheurich of Crosby; brother, Albert Earl Solis of Baytown; grandchildren, Chris and wife Crystal, Kristen and husband Jimmy, Jason and Brittany, and Ashlan and Alissa; and 1 great grandson, Austin.
