Ruth Dunn Grube

Ruth was born February 6, 1919 in Robertson County, Benchley, Texas to Mary Gardner Dunn and George Hayes Dunn. She was raised in Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School. Ruth married the late Goldie Charles Grube December 30, 1936. She lived in Baytown, Texas until moving to The Vosswood Nursing Center in January 2004.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Jack Dunn, Jimmy Dunn, and George Hayes Dunn, Jr., sisters Mildred Dunn Sterling and Mary Jane Dunn Shannon.

Survivors include son, Charles H. Grube and wife, Susan of Houston; daughter Betty Jane Thompson and husband, Thomas of Dallas; grandson Charles H. Grube, Jr. and granddaughter Mary Nancy Powell and husband, Allen Powell of Houston; granddaughter, Gretchen Thompson Wild and husband Steve Wild of Dallas, grandson John Kenneth Thompson and granddaughter Liesl Thompson of Dallas, and two great grandsons, Ryan Knut Grube of Houston and Luke Thompson Wild of Dallas. She is also survived by sister-in-law Bernice Dunn, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth was very active all her life. She was always willing to help, whether it was working in the PTA, teaching Sunday School class at the church or babysitting with her grandchildren. She was active in Grace United Methodist church until her health failed in 2004.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6-8 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Navarre Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Grace United Methodist Church, 304 North Pruett, Baytown with Dr. Asbury Lenox officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Gates, Dr. Jerry Marcontell, Wallace Wilson, Tommy Yates, Kevin Hutchins, R. D. Burnside, III, John S. Grube and Lyle Milstead.

The family expresses thanks to The Vosswood Nursing Center and especially caregivers Lynn Wooten and Nettye May for the services they provided to Ruth.
