Sandra Kay Amon

Sandra Kay Amon was born May 2, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas, and died May 29, 2026, at the age of 80. She lived in Baytown, Texas, and carried with her a steady, quiet grace—one that showed itself not in grand declarations, but in the daily, thoughtful ways she chose to care for others.

Sandra retired from the medical profession, a fitting close to a working life shaped by compassion and a natural attentiveness to the needs of those around her. Even beyond her career, her heart remained oriented toward service—both in the ways she volunteered in her community and in the countless unseen moments when she simply showed up, listened, helped, and gave.

Family was the center of Sandra’s world. She devoted herself to helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren, offering the kind of selfless love that becomes a foundation others stand on for the rest of their lives. She had a way of putting the needs of family and friends before her own, not out of obligation, but from a deep well of kindness that made care feel natural and constant.

In the community, Sandra brought warmth and joy through volunteer work and through a beloved tradition shared with her late husband, John, as she played Mrs. Clause alongside his Santa Clause year after year—a ritual that returned like a season, familiar and bright, for many years.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, John Amon Sr.; her daughter, Christina Higginbotham; her parents, George and Betty Klats; her sisters, mary Ancelet, Pam Vamvakias, and Carol Doan; and her brother in law, Harry Ancelet.

Sandra is survived by her son John Amon Jr; two grandchildren, Branden and Breeona; three great grandchildren, Chayne, Tessa-la, and Raina; two brother in laws, David Vamvakios and Paul Doan; and several nieces and nephews.

Her legacy is not only in the roles she held, but in the tenderness with which she held them—dedicating her life to caring for others, and leaving behind the enduring imprint of a kind-hearted, thoughtful presence that will be deeply missed.
