Sharon Joyce Frankenhoff (Matlock), aged 72, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 25, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, Sharon spent her formative years in South Houston, Texas, attending Pearl Hall Elementary School and South Houston High School. After high school, Sharon entered the workforce on the Houston Ship Channel as a secretary for a shipping import company. When asked about working at the Port of Houston, she always replied that it was the most interesting and best job she ever had.
Several months after beginning her job at the port, Sharon moved with her parents back to her home state of Colorado. As fate would have it, she was introduced to her soul mate and the love of her life, David, by her father, who worked with him at the City of Arvada. The two were married in December 1970, and spent 42 beautiful years together before David's passing in October 2013. The couple were blessed with one child, Jennifer, in April 1972.
In 1981, the Frankenhoff family moved back to Texas. Sharon then began a short career as an administrative assistant in the oil and gas industry in Longview, Texas. In 1986, she then dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom and wife, embracing the joys of family life. Sharon was known for her love of cooking, baking, shopping, traveling, and playing games. Her commitment to her faith was evident as she was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, Texas, and later attended weekly services and Bible Study at The Reserve of Pasadena, her assisted living center.
Left to cherish her memory, Sharon is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Wade (Derrick); grandchildren, Joshua Wade (Erika), Justin Wade (Julie), and Sydney Wade; brothers, Charles Matlock (Jan), and Garland Matlock (Betty); and six great-grandchildren, Brantley, Jameson, Casey, Allison, Archie, and Madison. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, David Frankenhoff, and her parents, Virginia and Garland Matlock.
Graveside/Memorial service will be held at 11 am, Friday, September 27, 2024, at Cedarcrest Cemetery, 3010 Ferry Rd., Baytown, Texas 77520, under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home, located at 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the American Heart Association. Sharon's warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
