Sidney ""Buddy"" Spears, at the tender age of 63, was swept away by God's will on October 29th, 2012. He was born on July 11, 1949 in Oakdale, LA to Thomas (Babe) Spears and Evelyn Droddy. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Spears & wife Laura Spears. He is survived by his mother Evelyn Droddy; his son James Spears & wife Rebecca Spears; his longtime friend/companion Kathy Freeman, whose loving care is greatly appreciated; sisters Linda Spears, Debbie Carr, Peggy Ball & husband Paul Ball; brothers Dwayne Spears, Kenneth Spears & wife Shana Spears; also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He attended Robert E. Lee high school where he was an all-star baseball player. He later went on to serve our country as a decorated National Defense Sharpshooter for the U.S. Army. He was also an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish, surf – in his earlier years (!), and spent a majority of his free time doing two of his passions – listening to and being overtaken by the enjoyment of music, especially the sounds of the soul-touching blues; and enjoying football on Any Given Sunday. Not only was he a sociable and outgoing spirit, he was also a charismatic, devoted, and kind-hearted dad, brother, son, and uncle who loved life, lived it to the fullest, and gave it his all. His presence will be truly missed and the legacy he has left behind will be an inspiration for generations to come.
The viewing will be held at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, TX on Thursday, November 1st from 5p-7p and the funeral will be held on Friday at 10am at Navarre Funeral Home.
