Sonny Brumfield

He was born April 4, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to his late parents, Dick Brumfield and Ruth Thompson Brumfield, lived in the Beach City area for the last 50 years and was a retired Ferry Boat Pilot from the Harris County Precinct #2 Lynchburg Ferry.

Sonny enjoyed coon hunting, deer hunting, listening to Hank Williams, Sr., playing country music, at one time played music with George Jones and he loved telling jokes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Ruth Brumfield and brother, Richard Brumfield.

Sunny is survived by his wife, Gloria Brumfield of Beach City; sons and daughter-in-law, Chad Brumfield of Baytown and Buckie and Chambra Brumfield of Mont Belvieu; daughter, Katie Brumfield of Beach City; grandchildren, Eric Brown of Mont Belvieu, Claire Brumfield of Mont Belvieu, and Kylie Brumfield-Kennedy of Beach City; brother, Bo Brumfield of Beach City; sisters and brother-in-law, Doris and John Broyles of Cove and Dana Coile of Forth Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Navarre Funeral Home with Mr. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Chad Brumfield, Buckie Brumfield, Henry Jackson, Simon Coverson, Mark Patterson and Bill Berry.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Milton Blackshear and the employees of the Harris County Lynchburg Ferry.
